Corn fibre - Nutriose ® in SHS - Synbiotic
Fibre is often considered a functional food as its intake has beneficial health effects. Soluble fibre, such as corn fibre - Nutriose ®, facilitates the growth of beneficial intestinal flora, such as the Bifidobacteria, as it is digested by them. It also optimizes colon activity, maintains stool softness during transit through the colon, helps reduce reabsorption of bile salts, agglutinates indigestible waste and facilitates its excretion.
Bifidobacterium longum in SHS - Synbiotic
The Bifidobacteria, the group to which Bifidobacterium longum, the probiotic in SHS-Synbiotic, belongs, are a group of beneficial bacteria found in the colon that help preserve colon health and functionality. The more beneficial bacteria there are in the digestive system, the less likely it is that it will harbour harmful or undesirable germs. In this function, the probiotic acts as a protector.
These bacteria also use soluble fibre as an energy source to produce short-chain fatty acids. Short-chain fatty acids are used as a gastrointestinal mucosa substrate, helping to preserve its functionality and health. When the beneficial intestinal flora is altered or eliminated, short-chain fatty acid production is limited, disrupting normal gastrointestinal functions. In such cases, the intestinal flora must be regenerated through the use of beneficial bacteria and increasing soluble fibre intake. SHS-Synbiotic includes beneficial bacteria and soluble fibre in its composition.
